Landscape, acrylic on canvas 8"x 6" |
You never know when you are going to create something! The painting above came about by cleaning off my brush when painting a commission for my daughter. The spontaneity of the painting is what brings me joy. It was an accident. No thought or pressure; not trying to achieve anything. Just a quick study that ended up making me very happy!
It seems that a lot of my work lately comes from cleaning my brushes - see post below.

Postcard Swap
Here's a sneak peek Of ihanna's postcard swap, 2015. Having so much fun with the little house theme. I began the postcards with a large sheet of chip board that I had been cleaning my brushes on for weeks. Layer upon layer of color was randomly built up. I used white acrylic and a stabilo black pencil to create more depth and variation. From there I collaged painted transparent paper (black circles), painted paper and paper from a French/English dictionary. The final marks were made with a white signo pen and graphite. A final coat of varnish and then to glue them to clean chip board before mailing them out!

Post cards have been mailed |
Postcards for the Liberate Your Art swap have been mailed. I thought I would have fun decorating the packaging. I used the same packaging that the postcards arrived from MOO.com in. I gessoed the outside and then painted, collaged, stamped and drew. It is all held together with a little washi tape. I hope this brightened Kat's day. So looking forward to receiving my postcards!

My front door - January 2, 2014 I've joined The Documented Life Project. I'm going to attempt to document 2014 as best as I can; knowing there will be weeks where I don't even think about it. This week's prompt was to interpret our front door. This is the photo I took. We are in the midst of a blizzard.- over 15 inches of fluffy snow by the time we are done midday tomorrow. It was a perfect day to begin my journal: making tabs, adding pages and working on the first prompt. Photos will come later when I have completed it. I am excited about working along side many amazing, creative folks from all over the world. Let the journey begin! |
